Berjalan Bersama
Teman, ingatkah dirimu akan cerita kita?
Ingatkah dulu bagaimana kita berbicara bersama?
Ingatkah dirimu bagaimana kita dulu bercanda ria?

...Ashley Bell ERCH 422.92 Dr. Topping September 20, 2012 Trust is the Key to Understanding Life Picture this: You are a first year senior in college. In order to graduate, you must teach overseas. In order to teach overseas, you must receive vaccinations. You receive three vaccines and your life changes forever. Anxious about my trip to Cambodia and nervous about the three vaccines; I patiently wait for the nurse to call me back into an exam room. Sitting in the waiting room, I reflect on all that is to come. I will be getting vaccines so that I can teach for a month in Cambodia. When I come back I will be able to student teach and then graduate. Yes, I am so looking forward to graduation. Deep in my thoughts, I miss hearing the nurse call my name. The little old woman with a little too much perfume on nudges me and points to the door. Grabbing my coat, I whisper thank you before heading for the door. Inside the exam room, a nurse with shoulder length blond hair informs me that she is going to get the three shots and will be right back. A moment later, she returns with three needles and three alcohol swabs. Before administering each shot, she carefully cleans the intended injection site. She engages me in a conversation before she ever so cleverly sticks the needle into my upper arm injecting the serum. Placing a Band-Aid over each spot, she tells me to monitor the sites for possible swelling. I nod as I head out the door. Leaving the parking lot, my phone rings.......

...not contained in the second set. Therefore, the difference between the a subset and proper subset is; in a subset the sets will be equal, but in a proper subset the set will not be equal. Example: Subset A={6,7,8,9} B={6,7} Proper Subset A={h,o,m,e} B={h,o,m,e,s} A complement of a set is when all of the elements in the union/universal set are not in the original set. The universal set is the set containing all elements of either both sets, or just of set one and set two. Example: Complement of a set U={a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h} A={b,d,f} B={a,b,c,d,e} Union U={q,r,s,t,u,v,w,x,y,z} A={q,r,s,t} B={q,r,s,u,w} C={r,s,u,v} Cardinality of a set is simply the amount of elements it contains. This function relates to the number of subsets of a set when you begin to use terms such as equal, equivalent, complement, union, and intersection. Example: Set A = {1,3,5} Set B = {2,4,6}. Both sets have 3 elements, therefore, the cardinality is equal to 3. Also that makes the two sets equivalent since they both contain three elements. In order for the sets to be equal, they must contain the exact same elements....

...hear the crickets’ chirping and the owls hooting as they hear the crackling of the snow that I’m stepping upon. As I look through the horizon of the snow, I saw the never ending slope falling towards the lake that apparently was frozen. As I sat on one of the unfrozen steps, I looked up once again, and I see the beautiful full moon sitting on a cloud. The stars shined even brighter when the moon glistened its light down to Earth. The lake looked really calm and I only saw a couple of ripples being caused by a female duck and her ducklings swimming in the middle of the lake. In the morning when I looked outside the window, the sun shined beautifully through the icicles that dangled down the side of the house. When I drove down to the city, you can see the cities that are at sea level. As I continued looking down, I see the clouds climbing up the mountains. And as I reach out of the car’s window, I can feel the refreshing mist that touches my fingertips.   The scenery of the cities down below can’t no longer be seen because of the clouds the cover the scene like a blanket that stretches miles away...View Full Essay...

...backgrounds to their businesses as a way of showing non- discrimination or prejudice to customers and potential workers. However, we see instances of discrimination on the news amongst our minority celebrities who have been mistreated on the account of the color of their skin. For example, Oprah Winfrey well known African American TV mogul reported to entertainment tonight that she was discriminated against just last year when she tried to buy an expensive purse at a store and was denied by the teller who stated that the purse was too expensive and that she should choose another less expensive purse. Also, in 1994, the well-known restaurant chain, Denny’s, were sued in race bias suits for 54 million dollars to customers that were discriminated against while dining at their restaurant. Some customers complained that they were made to pay higher prices for food than white customers and in some cases minority customers were treated rudely. The same discrimination can be seen in the workplace today and could be the reason for high unemployment in the US among young minorities. The unemployment rate among young minorities in the US is higher than those of white Americans. As you walk into establishments from as early as the 1960’s to the post Great Recession more white employees than minority employees will be seen in the work force. I believe that the Great Recession has made impact on many workers in the US but studies will show that minorities will suffer two times more......

Answer: The value added of the farmer is $1, the value added of the miller is $3-$1=$2, and the value added by the baker is $6-$3=$3. The value added of the economists is $0!! The Less You Know, the Better.

...I was four and ever since then, we’ve been inseparable. She’s the only person that knows about my parents addiction. “Hey Bay.” Miranda says “Hey, what are you doing?” I said very confused. “I got asked to do a mural on this wall for the school, putting symbols on here that represent us as students and as a community.” So far, she has painted a bright green graduate’s cap, a big firetruck red heart with people all holding hands uniting around it, and our school’s name in big turquoise bubble letters arching the wall like a rainbow. “Miranda? I need your help with something.” I say very hesitantly. “What’s wrong?” “My parents are behind on the bills again, and we’re about to get evicted. Do you have any ideas as to how I can get money? I don’t know what to do.” “Well, you know Jonny? The quarterback that every girl in this school is obsessed with? He sells all types of drugs and makes a lot of money. Maybe he can help you out.” “SELLING DRUGS?” I said so surprised. I couldn’t even believe she suggested that. “Yeah, I mean as long as you don’t get caught nothing bad is gonna happen right? Just don’t rip anyone off or they might kill you.” Miranda said so seriously. “KILL ME? YOU MEAN I CAN DIE FROM DOING THIS?” I was not about to actually consider this. Miranda laughed and started to walk away then she turned around and said “Just think about it and text me later tonight and let me know your decision.” Then she left....

A Place You Know Well

...Mr. Hong English A March 19, 2012 A Place You Know Well During my time as a child, I remember visiting so many places with my family throughout Southern California. One of the best memories was when I visited Lake Arrowhead. Located in the beautiful mountains of San Bernardino, Lake Arrowhead is a tiny city where every family would enjoy living in. Not only is Lake Arrowhead Village a great place to live but great place to enjoy nature’s beauty at any time of the day. I remember Lake Arrowhead for its beautiful scenery, it is family-oriented, and it has many outdoor activities. While visiting Lake Arrowhead in the winter time, I fell head over heels with the beautiful scenery that nature brought upon my eyes. As I arrived to the house in the evening, I looked up and I was able to see the stars that lit up the sky above me. As I walk down to the lake, I was able to hear the crickets’ chirping and the owls hooting as they hear the crackling of the snow that I’m stepping upon. ...having a family, friends or someone around you because it’s a necessity of a human person. I can say it’s a necessity for they are the ones who can help you discover and learn things which you still do not know. Remember that there is a saying, “No man is an island.” Yes, it’s true. For through them, you can help yourself in finding what is the essence of living in this world, what is your purpose and what else should we learn. We need them for us to be whole. LIVE AND LET LIVE. Everyone in this world have the right to live. Even the smallest creatures around us have the right to live. Everybody has its own freewill to choose how he/she will live his /her life. People have their own answers, reasons or explanations in choosing or deciding things. This means each one of us has his own perspective in viewing those. Each of us has his own “point-of-view” which makes ourselves different from everybody else in this world. We cannot tell that one’s point-of-view is wrong for that’s the way he sees things. It’s his belief. But there’s a better way we could take to make your way and my way of viewing things common. We can help each other in letting ourselves see the things which we do not see. PRAYER WORKS. This one really works. Whatever challenges you might face, just know that He’s always there for you. He will not forsake you. Call for Him through praying. It’s always nice to know that even the world turns you down; He’s always there to lift you up. As my life verse says......

A Place That I Know Well

...International Drive; this is where I stay during my time in Florida. Orlando's 14.5 mile long International Drive is a place I know only to well. Having been fortunate enough to stay on the International Drive several times I am aware of all of the great things it has to offer. It is a place that makes me feel such happiness whenever I visit, a place that holds fond memories and a place I will continue to visit for as long as I possibly can. The International Drive is always busy. The majority of people are tourists staying in the area. Many people uses this areas to stay as it is in the heart of Orlando and is ideally situated close to Walt Disney World Resorts and other theme parks such as Sea World and Busch Gardens. There is never a dull moment on the I-Drive. From the moment you leave the hotel you are surrounded by a great deal of things to see and do. Amongst these things are a fantastic water park, arcades, numerous adventure golf courses, museums, restaurants, dinner shows and so much more. There are plenty of attractions to keep you busy plus, at each end of the road, some great outlets for shopping. The majority of the things to do are within walking distance but alternatively tourists can take advantage of the I-ride Trolleys. These are very cheap little green buses that have marked stops dotted along the drive and they are never far away from wherever it is you want to go. During my holiday there is one place I never fail to return to. The Outta Control......
