Two Organizations Term Assignment
Two organizations chosen: Chick-fil-A & Target

Question 1 (Chapter 1) - How do your organizations appear to be managing in a world characterized under an uncertainty, ambiguity, and sudden change environments? Do you believe your organizations presently have the needed skillsets they are going to need? * Target: Target does a great job of paying attention to what is going on in the world, and staying ahead of other companies. Target always has the latest gadgets, latest trends, etc. They are ready for anything that is thrown at them, and I think they do have the needed skillsets they are going to need. * Chick-fil-A: Through uncertainty, ambiguity, and sudden change environments, Chick-fil-A seems to remain constant. They have their great service, delicious food, and kind employees who are willing to go above and beyond for the customer. They have been successful since their beginning, therefore I do believe that they have the needed skillets they are going to need.

Question 2 (Chapter 2) - Do you believe your organizations’ managers are able to handle the rate of environmental changes (particularly the financial impacts on their customers, suppliers, employees, etc.) occurring nationally and internationally? * Target: I do believe that Target’s managers are able to handle environmental changes. Target’s famous slogan, “Expect More. Pay Less,” is very well communicated. The managers believe this slogan enough to live by it, and that will show to their customers. If some of Target’s customers were to suffer some kind of financial loss, it is safe to say that Target would still be an option for them when shopping for groceries, and other household items. * Chick-fil-A: In every Chick-fil-A that I have ever been in, it is very apparent who the manager is, and that he believes in his company and what…...

...available at http://www.emeraldinsight.com/1463-7154.htm BPMJ 8,3 218 Ubiquitous organization: organizational design for e-CRM M.F. Smith & Associates, Inc., Morristown, New Jersey, USA Keywords Information systems, Transaction costs, Organizational design, Teams, E-commerce Abstract In 1998 J.P. Morgan's analysts forecast that the market for e-CRM (customer relationship management) solutions would grow rapidly. Since then more than 700 e-CRM firms have emerged. The convergence of information technologies caused enterprise information systems providers to add e-CRM functionality to their systems, thus further increasing the number of e-CRM suppliers. The proliferation of e-CRM concepts, models and technologies causes significant confusion and uncertainty. Corporate executives question the economic benefits of investing in multimillion dollar e-CRM projects, ponder about the right business and organizational models for e-CRM, and are uncertain which e-CRM models and technologies will prove both profitable and sustainable over time. With so many failed e-CRM initiatives some executives wonder whether e-CRM is not simply a hype. In the present paper what e-CRM is, from where the economic benefits from investing in e-CRM derive, and the evolution of alternative e-CRM models are elaborated. It is also argued that successful e-CRM projects are not narrowly departmental, but instead organization-wide initiatives. The paper presents a conceptual framework for e-CRM......

...shilisun@hotmail.com As one of the key ‘stable factors’, culture within an organization is playing a critical role in the organization’s everyday operations. Although the culture literature has at times focused on the culture of an organization as shared basic assumptions (Schein, 1985), or as metaphors within organizations (Morgan, 1986, 1997), it is not sufficient to attempt to understand and measure them. This paper explores organizational culture in general, some definitions and implications of organizational culture are reviewed from different perspectives, and Cliffe’s cultural themes are addressed with the use of Scholes’ cultural web and Hofstede’s onion diagram model of organizational culture. Keywords: Culture, Organizational culture, Cultural themes 1. Organizational culture Historically, there are numberless definitions about organizational culture, which is defined in many different ways in the literature. Perhaps the most commonly known definition is “the way we do things around here” (Lundy & Cowling, 1996). Organizational culture is manifested in the typical characteristics of the organization, in other words, organizational culture should be regarded as the right way in which things are done or problems should be understood in the organization. It is widely accepted that organizational culture is defined as the deeply rooted values and beliefs that are shared by personnel in an organization. Ogbonna (1992) declaring that organizational cultures are the......

The final design is the actual action that a business will plan for and follow to succeed. The companies will continue using creativity, innovation and design to adjust unforeseen events or accomplishments that may or may not become a reality. Creativity, innovation and design are used in any business industry, whether it would the manufacturing industry or a service industry (von Stamm, 2008). Riordan Manufacturing is a research and development company that uses polymer type materials such a plastic, as a principle form polymer to solve organizational needs. ...is mostly considered as a hobby by many people, soccer clubs are actually organizations that have organizational structures as similar as any other. These organizations have Human Resource Management (HRM) that is responsible for recruiting, selecting and providing additional support for their employees such as trainings, wage, and benefits. HR management in entertainment and sport industry is a very specific topic because they usually deal with the recruitment of very talented people connecting them with the brand of the soccer organization and as well as the marketing strategy. ...the effectiveness of an organization structure. These are organization’s (i) environment (ii) strategy (iii) technology (iv) size, and (v) people. ENVIRONMENT An organization is a system which works within a broader framework of an environment. The organization interacts continuously with its environment; it is affected by the environment and also affects the environment. Well, as most of us might already know, Yahoo and Google are one of the two top rated websites on the internet and computer software industry! In addition; both organizations have a quite interesting continued history of rivalry. Google Inc has received a lot of attention and praise for its remarkable organizational culture, which is designed to support both devotion and creativeness. Google has created many important products through this emphasis on modernization, such as the Google search engine, Google Maps and the Google Chrome Web browser. The company is now much bigger than it was when the organizational culture first developed, forcing some changes to the original model. If you still hold views as such, then welcome to this new era! These old school thoughts do not work anymore! In today’s world, changing is the ever-lasting theme. Nothing is for sure except for change. The same for HR which is transforming its role from transactional to transformational. In addition to its basic functions such as recruiting, staffing and delivering compensations. HRM now plays as a partner in corporate strategic planning. What’s essential for the companies nowadays is to be aware of and take advantage of the change, thus the organization’s ability of learning is crucial. The ability to sense the equilibrium, to make quick reactions, to adjust corporate strategies in order to maintain the high performance all along.
