...(like the tortoise in that famous allegory) emerge as very effective result – achievers. PROF. K.V. MURTHY 88 The features of efficiency and effectiveness can be summarized as shown in table TABLE what is Efficiency and Effectiveness Efficiency is ♦ Concerned with ‘how well’ and ‘how ♦ much’ of a performed task. • • • • ♦ Relies on intelligence, knowledge, ♦ skill and imagination. ♦ Almost Uni.-dimensional ♦ • The specific ‘target’ is the target; and • • Neither the manager nor his superiors • expect anything more. • ♦ Doing thing right. Effectiveness Concerned with desired results: Delivers the goods; Happens on time; Is cost-effective; and Leaves on side effect. Relies on : wisdom Multi-dimensional: The ‘contribution ’ is the targer; Going beyond the confines of current assignment ; and A ‘motivational process’ which is selfsustaining and ongoing. ♦ Doing the right thing. How do you go about acquiring effectiveness? Is there a set of exercise, prescribed steps, or exclusive qualities that we can adopt, and thus hope to make ourselves effective as managers? Disappointing thought it may seem, the answer is ‘No’. Effectiveness does not even have an entity of its own; it is the sum total of a number of attributes, qualities and attributes that go into ‘distilling’ effectiveness in you. Take the case of a chemical compound. It too has no entity of its own; it is created when a number of specific ingredients are put together in such a manner that the desired......

...There is so much pressure on the people that are worried about what they look like and worried about what others think about them that they turn to a horrible option in eating disorders. Not only do eating disorders cause muscle loss, reduction of bone density, lack of nutrients, and fainting but it also can result in death. A change in this i think would be more advertisments showing that you do not have to be super skinny to be considered attractive or to be a super model. commercials and magzines could put girls that are bigger than the normal cover girl or bigger than the thin super model that everyone is used to seeing on the television. i think that this change could be execiuted by public speaking in schools all over the country to targer the younger population before eating disorders can be an issue. Also i think that educating parents in what to look for and signs that might signal that their child may be going through some troubles and could possibly going through eating disorders. A particular group of people that i think would mostly be impacted would be the population of younger boys and girls, i think specifically girls. it is a common thought that goes through a lot of peoples head everyday when they find themselves judging people that are overweight or what people think is not skinny enough. Everyday kids are picked on from every end of this planet and it puts them in a position where they need to change and a lot of the time they turn to eating disorders......

...behavior. Although our survey allowed us to ask leading researchers about the actual-and-idealimportunce of-a wide array of potential research topics, it is impossible to be comprehensive in any single survey. Thus, one of our goals in this paper is to propose a broader definition of organizational behavior that could summarize the results of our survey and provide a useful agenda for future research. At the end of the paper, we use our results to discuss two traditional ways of defining organizational behavior that appear to us to fall short of providing a useful agenda for research. We also propose a third definition We wilt refer to GB as a ‘field’ thruughout this paper. However, it could cenainly be argued that GB is a subfield within a targer disciplinary umbrella (often referred to by labels such as ‘organizational research,’ ‘organization science,’ ar even management’). They key distinction we intend to convey by using the term, however, is that GB can be distinguished from other organizational sciences (e.g. ‘organization theory’ or ‘macro-GB’).
