Drafted by Kowin Itsaleumsack Chairman of Committee for Sumnus March 4, 2013

Contact Information Kowin Itsaleumsack Murfreesboro, TN kai2d@mtmail.mtsu.edu

We the committee find that the best way to establish a sexual harrassment policy for Sumnus College is to adopt a mixture between both UC Boulder's (CUB) and Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) policies. As such, we'll focus on some of the most important parts of both policies and combine them to create a suitable new, policy:The reporting process will be modeled after both MTSU's and CUB's, due to appealing elements from both. In regards to the investigation process, we have decided to adopt CUB's policy, with changes, additions, or removals noted, with reasons given.
Disciplinary measures, an uncovered topic in both, has been created by the committee. The appeal process will be taken after MTSU's, due to the committee's opinion of better standard.

The Reporting Process

Students:
If you feel that you have been harrassed sexually, then your first step is to inform either a faculty member, or one of the on-site sexual harrassment officers, who are specially trained to receive and investigate all matters pertaining to the subject. ...To many high school students, college seems like a far away land, a mysterious place where everyone wants to be yet not many know how to get there. As children, our parents tell us how much time we have to think about college, and that it is too far down the line to think about. The truth is it is never too early to think about your future. I, like many people, put little thought into my future career and now am lost in an unfortunate mix of indecision and anxiety. Not knowing where you want to be in the future is a hard burden to bear. Many of us tend to find out that we only know what we do not want, not what we actually do want. Do we want to be poor? Absolutely not. Do we want a boring job? Of course we don’t. We all want our nice big house, white picket fence, and dog in the backyard. We also want to be happy. These next few paths are ways I might be able to achieve both. I have many different possible interests when it comes to my future. I hope to attend a four year college, and after graduation attend graduate school. Having gone to small schools my entire life, I prefer a small school. I am looking for a school with a tuition under $30,000, but would not rule out schools that aren’t significantly over my budget. I am open to the thoughts of leaving home, yet I am not sure I would survive on my own. None of preferences are set in stone and I am willing to try and consider new possibilities. When it comes to careers and majors, I have considered becoming...

...1/5/12 What going back to college means to me and my family? Going back to college to me means represents possibilities; Possibilities of the unknown; Possibilities of a great future. The possibilities are endless for those who wish to pursue a degree. When I first started going back to school after graduating high school, I thought I had it all figured out in what I wanted to be when I grew up. I learned after taking a lot of classes that the path I was going down was not for me. It took me several programs to figure out that I wanted to get my degree in Business Administration/Management. I feel that earning this degree will fulfill my professional goals. It will give me many opportunities to do many different things. For instance, I can be a Human Resource Representative, Manager, President of a company or even a business owner. It is a degree that will help me to become more financially stable so I can take care of a family when that time comes. Right now, it is just me in my household. As I grow in my current career and grow in my educational goals, I know this will change. There will be a time in my life where I will have a family. When I have this, I want my family to know that I have worked hard to get where I am at. I want my family to know that what I do in life is for them and that it will benefit them in their futures. At this moment in my life, the main person in my family who I am doing this for is my mom. My mom went to college only for one year......

...College ranking and student sorting: Evidence from China Zhigang Li a Chao Wang b School of Economics the University of Hong Kong Abstract China has over 1,000 universities, admitting around 7 million students yearly. Providing information on the school quality may elevate the sorting of students and improve the quality of human capital. In this study, we exploit publicly available university rankings in China and school-major level admission score data to estimate the sorting effect of information provision on school quality. We find evidence that the public ranking of universities significantly affects the decision of students and the outcome of university-student sorting. a b Corresponding author Tel.: +852-9722-3859 E-mail address: zli.economics@gmail.com Corresponding author Tel.: +1-917-9753195 E-mail address: cw1379@nyu.edu Catalogue 1. 2. ...and far between, complicating efforts to control both cost (what institutions spend) and price (what colleges charge students). And that makes the initiative launched by Virginia's Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission, an oversight agency that evaluates other state agencies and programs, interesting. Over the next two years, the commission, at the request of state lawmakers, plans to analyze in depth how expenses at the state's public universities have changed over the past few decades, an endeavor that could result in new ways to control costs and prices, both in the state and nationwide. And the commission's first report, released this month, hints at one area that will be explored in depth in subsequent reports -- auxiliary services, including housing, dining and intercollegiate athletics. “During the last decade, total spending per student (accounting for inflation) increased about 2 percent at Virginia’s six research institutions, and about 11 percent at Virginia’s other nine institutions,” the report states. “Spending on auxiliary enterprises funded by students was the largest driver of these spending increases. Auxiliary enterprise spending per student, after inflation, increased $821 at Virginia’s six research institutions and $906 at the other nine non-research institutions.” That finding has the potential to play into an oft-repeated narrative about colleges spending their money on nonessential facilities and services -- climbing walls, lazy rivers and......

...long periods to be prepared by staff and even longer periods for approval by various department heads. There was apparent lack of such opportunities as flexible work schedules; paid time off (PTO) policies, responsible time and communication expectations, and company-sponsored family events and activities and this had resulted in increased levels of stress for workers. Therefore, when I was asked to document the annual leave records of staff which usually delayed because the department heads did not quite appreciate the need for such leave, staff often showed outbursts of their frustrations. It was often a very difficult situation. I usually relied on my human relations skills acquired through knowledge from my course work in Greenhill College. I found numerous problems with this single task, and it was something that could have become very frustrating had I not had the resources available from my course work to find a solution. Although the entire HRM process was very complicated, I am very thankful for being able to work with it because I have gotten most of the problems worked out, so in the future, managing the HR function particularly developing effective WLB policies for companies should be a simple task for me. SECTION FOUR CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS The internship did help to crystallize my career goals. My eventual goal is to work in the total rewards and compensation management field in a hospital. I hope to find an entry level HR position in a hospital......

...Why College: Why college, why go to college? I feel that is one of the most asked question amongst college students, whether it’s talking about, why they choose the college they choose, or why go all together, it’s asked. I for one ask myself that sometimes throughout the school year; it’s almost a reminder of why I am in enrolled in college today. I’m attending St Cloud State University as a freshman to get my masters in Elementary Education to become a first grade teacher. I chose this school because I knew someone who went into the education program and didn’t have a bad thing to say about it. In order for me to achieve the goal of becoming a teacher I have to go to four year college. Without any type of degree the most I could become would be working at daycare/preschool making on average of eight dollars an hour which would have me fall along the lines of US Census Bureau stating that if you have an high school diploma on average you will make $1,936 per month verse if you attend college an receive your bachelor’s degree you can make an average of $3,804 per month. With teaching your overall salary depends on your degree and how many years you have been teaching. If I just get my bachelor’s degree and I’m in the first step I can make on average $47,379 a year and if I get my master I can make on average of $50,076 per year. With that if I continue to get my Ph.D or Ed.D I can receive an extra $2,000 dollars to yearly salary. Along with the salary increasing over the......

...College “college” what easily come up to your mind when we hear this word there are so many neither things nor questions coming up to my mind. Questions that I do want to know the answers. When I reached one of the best things in my life being a teenager, I saw the best things in my life being a teenager, I saw that everything has changed. All are interesting and exciting to explore. There are several stages in tertiary level, first year or what we called freshmen, second year/sophomore third year/junior and the last one, fourth year or being a senior. I experience being a first year student and it was amazing, this time I am out the stage of second year level. I discovered a lot of things handsome boys pretty girls that I want to mingle with, kind of teachers and a wee known school, Lyceum of the Philippines University of Batangas (LPU-B) , but it’s not all I’d discover; the word “college “means a lot to every teenager like me. It’s funny to think that when you’re a teenager life is going on and on with every steps that you take in that journey, You might find yourself having close friend true friends best friends, whatever a person calls it. For an unexpected reason, you develop the strong love and bonding to each other, treating everyone as your one sister or your own brother. Although there are so many laughers to each of you, there might be hidden heart feelings because of some struggled words that you gave to your friends. But now, it’s already done with a smile in......

... The Cost of College In today’s society college education is needed to achieve a successful career. Jobs have become increasingly difficult to get without a college degree. I think that college education is getting costly especially in today’s economy. Although, I believe that people should go to college and comprehend the importance of higher learning, and to have access to higher social and economic class. “Therefore, one issue that most of college students face when getting a college education are tuitions bill and years of debt. As a consequence a higher percentage of dropout students that is increasing date to date.” (Eduardo Porter) After I graduate high school I had struggled for money to pay for college which I think it is very hard once you are used to free education all your life. Thereof, paying so much money for a higher education is bringing the number down of students who are earning a degree, and is declining over the years. I believe that it is much easier for `students who come from an wealthy family that have opportunity to enroll in college right out of high school because they can afford it. However for students in a lower income family like me tuition rates make that near impossible. I believe that if high schools refocus on training students for jobs that lead directly to apprenticeships it could lead the student to a well-paying employment that increase income to be able to afford college cost . I have been......

...recent newspaper report said that our of very hundred interviews, only five qualified for the employability. It is not that were technically not sound but they lacked in communication skills. Communication skills are as important as technical qualifications for youngsters aiming at a bright career. Communications hold the key. Poor communication skills, low confidence levels and improper body language have resulted out in the job race. The person recruited will have to deal with the global clients directly. To be successful, a person should have proper communication skills. These skills are skills such as, writing skills, speech skills, listening skills, non verbal skills. People use communication skills, while reading, writing, listening, speaking, conversation with various groups of people, government officials, bankers, family and many other things on their daily bases. People could benefit many things from mastering organization. They would not have to search and search for things when they need something. If it was organized you would know right where it was. Organizational skills are also good when you are writing any kind of paper. If you organize all your research you have done, it will make it easier to write your paper. Just think, if everything was already in order for your paper that is one less thing you have to do. I believe it is also easier to succeed in College if you are organized. Organizational skills are very important when you are in college. You......

Although I struggle a little bit with my comprehension problem, I attend to have a fresh start here at Rend Lake. I decided to attend college because I think it is very important to further my education after High School. It is the next chapter that I am choosing to start in my life. I feel that while attending college I can learn more and grow as a student. My parents are both college graduates so therefore I feel as if it is expected of me to attend college and get a degree. It is known that by attending college students solve problems and handle decisions properly. Sometimes people may think that a High School education is enough for them, it is not for me. It is very important for me to strive to get the highest education I can possibly get. Before the cycle of audits started for each type of tourism operator, public workshops were held to present and explain the TTTIC process. The TTTIC process involves a self-assessment using a checklist designed from the standard. A scheduled audit exercise is conducted once an application is received from the tourism operator. Upon completing the joint-audit exercise (TTBS and TIDCO in Trinidad, and TTBS and THA in Tobago) the operator receives a report from TTBS. If TTBS verifies that the tourism operator meets the requirements for an ATO, a certificate is issued. The process flow-chart is seen below. In order to ensure the integrity of the process, stakeholders were involved in the development of the standards but not in the development of the TTTIC certification programme. The TTTIC programme takes the agreed-to standard and audits tourism operators against that standard. TTTIC auditors are trained in-house, with TTBS and two consultants from Ireland and Jamaica providing the initial training programme. All TTBS and TIDCO staff members are required to sign a conflict of interest agreement annually. To date, over 120 audits have been conducted and over 40 percent of those......
