Persuasive Paper Part 3: Possible Disadvantages, Answers, with Visuals
Paying students to pass standardized tests has been in the works for a while now. The idea of paying students a financial incentive to pass standardized tests came from families who would give money to their kids if they brought home a report card with good grades. Offering students some type of financial incentive to pass standardized tests would get the students attention. Most students don’t care whether they pass or fail school, offering them money in exchange for scoring high on standardized tests would give students a reason to pay attention and pass standardized tests (Flannery, 2015). Motivating students with a financial incentive is a good way to get them to pass standardized tests (Bettinger, 2008).
Problems with Standardized Testing
Standardized testing ramped up in 2002 from the No Child Left behind Act. This act was going to hold public schools to a high standard of education, by measuring the students’ scores on statewide standardized tests. The reasons that standardized tests are a problem is from the following reasons: 1. Test scores can’t accurately measure learning: Standardized tests does not allow students to express themselves because they are multiple-choice. Open-ended tests would allow students to express themselves. 2. Standardized testing eats up instruction time: High school students spend 29 and 45 days per year taking tests. This does not include preparation time. Schools have eliminated courses that are not tested, such as art, music, and physical sciences. 3. Test anxiety impedes learning: Standardized tests can lead to anxiety. Anxiety can make students forget the material they learned or how to do…...

...Persuasive Essay Because many African American men don’t go to the doctors regularly they unintentially put them selves at risk for developing lupus a chronic, autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body. According to the Lupus Foundation of America one in 2,000 people in the United States has Lupus. But regularly check ups can help detect early stages of the disease, which in turn can help patients avoid the need for Dialysis or a Kidney transplant. As African American women whose brother has recently battled with lupus, I understand how debilitating and frightening this disease can be. I also understand how, in many cases, such suffering may be needless. Indeed, had my brother gone to the doctor’s and been proactive in his healthcare, his Lupus could have been averted. I argue all of my readers, especially African American men, to do what they can to protect their health, including receiving regular physical exams and adopting health maintenance habits. Around June 2009, my brother Justin 29 began to get ill. Most days he was fatigued and had some slight swelling in his feet. Expecting that the swelling was only temporary, he didn’t go to the doctor. However as the symptoms worsened and swelling continued moving from his feet to his knees he finally went to the doctor. “I thought I was having an allergic reaction to something I ate and would be better in a couple of days” he remembers. Months and months went by; doctor’s visits increased and......

In France, they speak quicker and don’t have to think about how to pronounce the words. This will help you be able to speak more fluently. When I was in high school and groups came back after a trip abroad, I remember how they said that it really helped them with the language after experiencing it firsthand. I want you to have that experience also. Going to France is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I want you to see buildings and monuments that were around before the United States was even created and to not just read about history but to actually see it and feel like you are a part of it. You will have fun traveling through France with me. Should I start planning the trip?...

Since money was taking out of this account to pay other stuff why can’t other cut backs be made to put the money back. Louisiana state employees and retirees are burnt out on getting the lower end of the deal. State of Louisiana had to contact every employee and retiree to make them aware of this insurance change. That is a lot of time and paper wasted just for the state to put money back in the reserves. Bobby Jindal administration could have done a better job to resolve this issue, but once again they must steal from the poor to feed the rich it’s like Robin Hood. “This thing is set in stone,” retiree Ray Clement said. “Carry a message to the man upstairs. ... His capricious and unethical attitude toward the process is a slap in the face to every honest, hard-working individual in the state of Louisiana.” Retiree Stan Hurder complained that the changes set up a “two-tiered” system. “You need to go back to the drawing board and provide equal coverage for everybody.” Hurder said the Legislature should reimburse Group Benefits for the dollars lost from the reserve fund......

Directions: In this section write a paragraph or two to synthesize the key points of the articles. Consider this section a conclusion of your findings. Synthesis Points from Articles (Type below) Controlling pain in a patient with chronic pain or substance abuse issues can be complex and very challenging for a nurse to deal with. There are many ways to properly assess and treat pain using a systematic approach that wont subject the nurse to perform unethically. Everyone has a different tolerance level depending on their specific medical issue, and even socioeconomic status. In many settings opiods are usually the treatment of choice unless a patient specifies there preeferences or allergies. Urine drug testing has been proven as a benefial tool in treating the drug-seeking patient as it helps to understand patient compliance. The one concern of utilizing the drug testing approach is that some laboratories as well as other medications the patient may be taking, can affect the outcome of the results. Understanding a patients pain level is very important, and knowing the proper steps to take in treatment will ensure a successful outcome.
