According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, motivation is one of the external and internal factors that stimulate desire and energy in people to be continually interested and committed to a job, role or subject or to make an effort attain a goal. Armstrong (2014), classifies motivation as strength and direction of behaviour and the factors that influence people to behave in certain ways. This section will illustrate the impact of non-monetary motivators on staff performance. Watson, (1994) admits that motivation is the number one problem that is facing modern business today. Non-monetary motivation is one of the most essential ways to motivate staff within an organisation. In many countries owners and top managers are using systems of motivation for staff. In the U.S.A. seventy five percent of organisations motivate staff with non-monetary motivators. This percentage reflects the importance and positive impact of motivation of employees.There are many types of non-monetary motivators and all of them have positive impacts on organisations. This paper, based on a study of employees of Pakistan Public sector regulatory authorities of telecommunication, oil and gas, power, media, security exchange, banking sector and organizations being regulated by these authorities is an attempt to develop and test a hypothesized model linking HR importance of job analysis with employee job performance. Survey results of 568 employees indicated that practice of job analysis was strongly related to employee job performance. The findings suggest that an organisation-wide policy of job analysis is an important source of competitive advantage in its own right, and requires due attention of HR professionals. The study extends the findings of the HR–employee job performance research pursued in Western countries to a non-Western context. Abstract: Purpose: Present study makes an attempt to examine the impact of intellectual capital on financial performance of firms based on a sample consisting of 12 Indian banking companies which constituted the CNX Banking index of NSE during 2012-13. More specifically, it seeks to examine the impact of the IC represented by VAIC and the value added, on corporate financial performance measured by return on assets, earnings per share, and return on equity. Design/methodology/approach: In this study VAIC™ is considered as a key valuation model for measuring the IC performance of Indian Banking Companies. Capital employed, human capital and structural capital are used as components of intellectual capital and return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE) and Earning Per Share (EPS) indexes are used as criteria of financial performance. The value of three performance measures i.e. Return on Equity (ROE), Return on Assets (ROA), and Earning Per Share (EPS) are obtained from the annual reports of respective banks, whereas the values of VAIC and Value added are computed using appropriate formula and the ranking is made. The companies having highest value is ranked 1, next highest is ranked as 2, and so on. The effective application of human resources to accomplish organizational objectives typically requires predictable performances of a given level (quantity and quality) from every organizational member. Theorists of both cognitive and a cognitive orientations agree that managers should give considerable emphasis to tying organizational rewards to performance on the job Hamner, 1974; Porter & Lawler, 1968). The assumption (often implicit) in these attempts to encourage increased performance is that there is an additive relationship between externally mediated rewards and rewards which arise out of task performance itself.
