Module 2 DQ 1

Knowledge of the foundations and history of nursing promotes an understanding of how nursing has, and will continue to, evolve over time. By researching its foundation and history, one sees how professional nursing has continued to demonstrate it’s ever-broadening scope of practice, thus demanding practicing nurses to achieve higher levels of education and pursue continued education. With higher levels of education and continued education, nurses’ perspectives also broaden, provoking a significant change in their ownership of their profession. It seems to provoke a more vested interest in the growth and development of professional nursing as a whole. At least that’s the change that I witness happening within myself.

There are many trends demonstrated by the interactive timeline. The ones that I find most interesting are research and technology, education and discrimination.

In the early years of nursing, technological growth occurred at a much slower pace than it occurs today. Technologic advancement brings about more in-depth research. With more research comes more knowledge of proper diagnosis and effective treatment. Today, rapid advancement in technology demands that nurses stay up to date with current diagnostic and treatment modalities. It has influenced my perspective of nursing in regards to realizing that I didn’t go to school to learn, “this is what I need to know to be a good nurse.” I learned that you never stop learning how to be a good nurse because nursing is constantly changing with the more knowledge we gain through research.

This constant learning and keeping up to date with current practices leads in to the trend that nursing is evolving into a profession that is requiring higher levels of education. With the growing complexity of our patients’ needs and our broadening scope of practice,…...

Week 2 Dq1

...Week 2 DQ1 There are a variety of theories of motivation, many of which are complementary. Of the main motivational theories described in the text, which theory or theories do you think would apply most fully to the people you had take the self-assessments? Why? The motivational theories I believe that would apply to the three people whom I have chosen to take the self assessments are self-efficacy theory, social-learning theory, and expectancy theory. Every one of these individuals are able to be self efficient when performing tasks at work and are able to complete the assignments, which are given to him and her. From the assessment scoring only one of the individuals would complete the assignment without any negative feedback. The other two are different when it comes to giving negative feedback. All three of these individuals are motivated by the work that is given to him and her. They are trying to achieve a higher goal. All three of these individuals are willing to learn from others and take that information and move forward. They believe that if they do his or her best they will receive some type of rewards in the end. Because they are motivated to receive positive feedback from others he and she are expecting a positive outcome from others employees and being rewarded for a job well done. All three of these individuals enjoy his or her job but they are looking for more out his or her position. If a promotion was dangling in his or her face with more money they would...

...process means that everyone that is waiting for results is going to wait that much longer in order to take care of this critical patient. Without all of these departments working together and knowing just exactly what to do a patient’s life is in danger. There are many changes within the healthcare field, current management theories and practices may fail to deal with the complexity of issues ranging from regulatory compliance to financial influences (Suddaby, Hardy, & Huy, 2011). If everyone in the healthcare team works together the best possible outcome for everyone involved can be achieved. Suddaby, R., Hardy, C., & Huy, Q. (2011). Week 2 Dq1

...week 2Week 2 DQ1 Write a 200- to 300-word short answer to the following questions: Describe how joint application design (JAD) might be considered a better information-gathering technique than the traditional method of requirements gathering?  What are its shortcomings? The existing method entailed application developers spending months learning the specifics of a particular department or job function, and then developing an application for the function or department. In addition to significant development backlog delays, this process resulted in applications taking years to develop, and often not being fully accepted by the application users. (JAD) is a process used in the prototyping life cycle area of the Dynamic Systems Development Method (DSDM) to collect business requirements while developing new information systems for a company. "The JAD process also includes approaches for enhancing user participation, expediting development, and improving the quality of specifications." It consists of a workshop where “knowledge workers and IT specialists meet, sometimes for several days, to define and review the business requirements for the system.” The attendees include high level management officials who will ensure the product provides the needed reports and information at the end. This acts as “a management process which allows Corporate Information Services (IS) departments to work more effectively with users in a shorter time frame.” Through JAD workshops the......

...1. Discuss where a computer stores its basic hardware settings, why it does so, and what some of those settings are. A computer stores its basic hardware settings in the ROM (read-only memory) it does this because it is non-volatile. Which means when the computer powers off the information on the Rom will stay. Unlike RAM (random access memory) which is volatile and gets emptied when the computer gets turned off. 2. Compare storage devices using four criteria: versatility, durability, speed, and capacity. Storage device do about the same thing but there are a lot of factors to look at for when u are looking for the best versatile storage u wouldn’t want to go with a hard disk because it can access data only form its fixed disk platters. Were as more versatile device like a dvd drive can access any DVDs, DVD movies, and CDS. Then u want to look at durability. Most storage device or even anything technological can be damaged if misused or mishandled so u want to find something that can hold up better. Like CDs and DVDs would be more durable than hard disks. Being able to access data is always important. Most storage devices people look are always looking for speed. Most devices take that into aspect like Hard disk, CD, DVD, Blu- ray, and solid state drives are all really fast compared to older technology’s like tape drives. Another huge factor in people buying a storage device is capacity. When someone looking for storage the more the better. The hard disk usual holds......

...Mini Case 2 Macie Steiner Florida Southwestern January seventeenth How Long Can They Fly In summary of case four Boeing: How Low Can They Fly? Druyun still worked for the air force when she was offered a job with Boeing, Druyun assisted Boeing with obtaining contracts with the air force. Now if we take a step back and look at the big picture late 2001 Druyun, an acquisitions for the U.S Air Force starts negations with Boeing to lease Boeing jets as refueling tankers, she later than awarded them a 4 billion dollar contract, and gave them proprietary pricing data. After ethical violations of CEO (Stonecipher) of McDonnell Douglas Boeing incorporates ethical monitoring. The identified stakeholders are Boeing, Druyun and Stonecipher. The Procurement Integrity Act prohibits the release of source selection and contractor bid or proposal information. Also, a former employee who served in certain positions on a procurement action or contract in excess of $10 million is barred for one year from receiving compensation as an employee or consultant from that contractor ("Procurement Integrity"). The ethical implications of the procurement act are that it can be a conflict of interest to negotiate with a supplier. The relevance in this case is that Druyun was still a part of the military when negotiations began for a new position at Boeing and per Druyun she awarded Beoing “a parting gift” before leaving the military that made Boeing......

Dq1 2

...Dq 1 and 2 Dq 1 In proposing a network solution in this technological world, one hard benefit that I will bring up is its cost effect.  Benefit of cost savings allow organizations to invest in other areas. The soft benefits are undeniably difficult because it is not easy to quantify accurately, for example, employee satisfaction - making it easy to access their network-based applications and data from any location; flexibility in conducting business using laptop computers and other devices such as PDAs and phones.  Other benefits include employee's ability to communicate whenever and wherever they want, and eliminating or minimizing mistakes.  Of importance is the reduction of employee turnover that would inevitably help an organization the expense of hiring and training new employees.  Lastly, wireless network becomes a competitive advantage for organizations - mobility is a real solution. Dq 2 1. Determining Deployment Scenario - The first step in designing a wireless LAN depends on the correct type of wireless network to be deployed.  2. Selecting the IEEE Wireless Network - After the deployment scenario has been determined, the next step is deciding which IEEE wireless network type would be suitable from these three standards: IEEE 802.1 1b; 802.1 1a; and 802.1 1g. 3. Type of Access Point Management - the management functions of a wireless LAN, for example, user authentication, encryption, and access point management are included in the access point......
