DISCUSSION
This Lab Practical 2 on design linear DC power supply is to identify 4 main components and the signal waveform as the result of the circuit. By looking to the θJA comparison values heat sink is identified.
On Task 2, circuit has been constructing to have the output at transformer, rectifier, filter, ic regulator and load. Voltage dropped at each component that measure such as Vp-p, Vrms, and Vdc input and output.
Task 3, using multisim software as medium to simulate the circuit and measure the value of output voltage at every component. The simulation by multisim was attached with this report.
CONCLUSION
As the conclusion, we investigate and analyze the operation of DC linear power supply. Moreover, we had simulated the circuit using S=Engineering Software (multisim). Furthermore, we construct and test the power supply circuit during the lab class. Linear power supplies rarely include voltage regulation so there should only be used to power boards that contain a voltage regulator. The output voltage at less than full load will exceed the rated voltage by as much as a factor √2. Filter capacitors in some supplies are on the small side, so additional filtering may be needed. Switch power supply will operate at close to their rated voltage over the load range, so they may be used to supply boards requiring regulated voltage. Switching power supplies may also be used power boards which have an integrated voltage regulator as long as the voltage is greater than the regulator operating voltage (i.e. , Vreg + Vdropout). Voltage supplied to a board with an integrated linear regulator should not be too much greater than the regulator operating voltage (i.e. , Vreg + Vdropout) to limit power dissipation and heating in the regulator. The current rating of a power supply must be greater than the current drawn…...

...Case Study 1: Echo Electronics Summary Echo Electronics is a small company that manufactures and distributes communication equipment. In an effort to increase production, Paul Sanchez the production manager, agreed with the engineering department to install new computerized workstations to improve production. However, after 3 months after being installed production was down and quality decreased. Consulting his subordinate managers resulted in differing opinions as the root cause but one thing for sure was moral was down with the production workers. Receiving a call from the CEO, Paul was tasked with determining the problem and correcting it immediately and a report prepared within the week. 1. What actions could Paul have taken to prevent the problem? To prevent this problem, Paul should have had greater discussions with his subordinates regarding his proposal. He rushed the decision without careful thoughts and inputs from others resulting in a decrease in production and a poorer quality product being produced. Taking it a step further, he should have had open discussions with the line workers allowing them to be considered in the decision and overall buy in since they are the ones using the machines. Forcing something new on someone more often than not results in negative results as evident at Echo Electronics. Additionally, he should have had a business plan which reflected costs associated with the new equipment, expected production and a return on investment...

...modes; * state which combinations of the control modes will most likely be found in typical control schemes; * sketch typical control schemes for level, pressure, flow and temperature applications. ------------------------------------------------- INSTRUMENTATION EQUIPMENT 2.0 INTRODUCTION Instrumentation is the art of measuring the value of some plant parameter, pressure, flow, level or temperature to name a few and supplying a signal that is proportional to the measured parameter. The output signals are standard signal and can then be processed by other equipment to provide indication, alarms or automatic control. There are a number of standard signals; however, those most common in a CANDU plant are the 4-20 mA electronic signal and the 20-100 kPa pneumatic signal. This section of the course is going to deal with the instrumentation equipment normal used to measure and provide signals. We will look at the measurement of five parameters: pressure, flow, level, temperature, and neutron flux. 2.1 PRESSURE MEASUREMENT This module will examine the theory and operation of pressure detectors (bourdon tubes, diaphragms, bellows, forced balance and variable capacitance). It also covers the variables of an operating environment (pressure, temperature) and the possible modes of failure. 2.1.1 General Theory Pressure is probably one of the most commonly measured variables in the power plant. It includes the measurement of steam pressure; feed water......

...EXISTING SYSTEM In Metropolitan cities, buses play an important role in the public transportation. Even though various kinds of transportations are implemented, the bus services still play a major part of the mass transit in Metropolitan cities. Due to increasing petrol and disel prices buses are the best alternative to own vehicles for the public. Additionally, it is much convenient since buses are available in atmost routes and bus passengers need not be worried for finding a parking area. The major problem faced by the passengers is delay in scheduled arrival time of bus to bus stop. The ITS- Intelligent Transport System is widely implemented to provide required information to passengers. In ITS every bus is mounted with a GPS module and electronic displays boards displaying arrival time of bus are placed in every bus stops. The Global position system (GPS) mounted as part of the Vehicle Mounted Unit in the bus will receive the longitude and latitude coordinates from the Satellite through a process of triangulation. This information is then sent across to the Central Control station through the wireless communication link – GSM / GPRS. The application at the Central control station on receiving the position inputs will update the display boards at the bus shelters / stops enroute and at the bus terminal platform display panel and the general display panel at the related bus terminals. The Passenger Information system will be driven by the following core sub-systems Central......

Central Idea: Intro Sensitive, caring-sometimes too much, gets frustrated easily, honest, respectful, unfocused, and worrisome. These are just a handful of my traits and what makes me, me. I have learned many things over the last few years that have determined the type of person I want to be and who I don't. I have my good days and definitely my bad days, but all of these have helped me learn and grow. I will be letting you know of 4 different things about me. Where I come from, they type of person I was heading towards, how I have changed over the last few years and the type of person I want to be. Body I was born and raised in Springfield, Mo. It was my sister and I until I was 8, we wished and wished for my parents to have a baby boy. Well my mom got pregnant, but it was another girl. So we got a sister. At the age of 14 my parents got a divorce and since then I have gained a step-bro and sis and a half sis. It is a lot of fun for the most part having a big family because you always have someone to lean on and talk to. I am the oldest so I of course had the most responsibility and have had people that look up to me; I needed to be a good role model. I feel like I have done an okay job, with the exception of......

...To Use Electronics during School Electronic devices, including cell phones, are very helpful resources during school hours. Emergencies always happen and in case of emergency cell phones come in handy. Students are required to pay attention in class, yet no one said anything about having to pay attention during lunch or passing periods. There should be no worries about students being distracted during lunch, or passing periods because class hasn`t started. Electronic devices should be allowed during school hours. Parents always want to keep in touch with their children to see how they are doing during school. When there is an accident, there’s really no way to communicate with others because of this rule. Because of this rule, you don’t get any help because of the fact that you cannot use cell phones. Plus you don’t want to get in trouble, but you need to help the person who is hurt. Phones can be silenced during class or study periods and active only in appropriate places. Like if you were after school and you have to silence it for athletic sports, stay after to get help from a teacher, in a library and etc. Because of a small mistake, students get punished. A teacher can assume that you’re texting because your phone went off, but they don’t have actual proof. Students need a stand for this because accidents always happen. The other thing is that other electronic devices like cameras and IPods don’t make any disruptions unless they’re being used during school. Cameras......

Intro of the Mac

...Amanda Perry Module 1: Intro of the MAC CCT 271 August 21, 2014 Steve Jobs was born on February 24, 1955 in Los Altos, California. Steve Wozniak was born on August 11, 1950 in San Jose, California (www.biography.com/stevewozniak). The pair founded Apple Computers Inc. on April 1, 1976 with Ronald Wayne. They were responsible for releasing some of the first personal computers on the market. Jobs and Wozniak partnered together to invent the Apple I computer in 1976. They were hoping to sell their first computer to their fellow members in the Homebrew Computer Club (www.biography.com/stevejobs). The Homebrew Computer Club was a computer hobbyist group out of Silicon Valley, California, and was founded by Gordon French in 1975. The group met together twice a week to exchange different ideas about computers and how to make them more accessible to people. The group consisted of many computer enthusiasts that later became high profiled hackers and computer entrepreneurs like Jobs and Wozniak (www.princeton.edu/homebrewcomputerclub). As time went on, the two continued to work on building bigger and better things like the LISA. In 1979, a crew from Apple, led by Jobs, decided to go and visit Xerox’s Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). It was said that Jobs walked away with a vast amount of knowledge and secrets from Xerox that he used in the original MAC. It was believed that the ideas behind the graphical computer display came from PARC when all actuality,......

...Systems Wal-Mart is one of the largest retailers in the world based out of the United States with locations in other countries as well. Running an organization the size of Wal-Mart is a humongous task that requires reliance on heavy duty IT systems. Some of the biggest IT systems Wal-Mart uses include a Transaction Processing System, Management Information System, and Decision Support System. Its Transaction Processing System makes all routine daily tasks automated using raw data as its input. It then summarizes, records, and synchronizes this data. It uses a universal product code to ensure accurate pricing, improve efficiency, reduce shrinkage, and enhance communication amongst different channels. The TPS uses a satellite system and electronic scanning of UPC (uniform product code) at the POS or point of scanning (Fishman, 2006). The Management Information System or MIS uses data collected from the TPS by creating performance and evaluation reports used by middle management. These are usually used to explain, and assess information collected for financial purposes and evaluations. The other major IT system Wal-Mart uses is a DSS or a Decision Support System which is used primarily by executive management. Ever since Wal-Mart started using DSS, its profits and customer satisfaction ratings rose dramatically. Its DSS is also commonly known as a data warehouse, a digital hub where its entire customer related information is systematically stored for convenient use and......

...dependent to gadgets and electronic devices. They see these as more functional than books. They realize that electronic devices has the ability of giving them a larger source of information in a faster way. What is Gadget? Simply, a small useful device. A gadget is a small tool such as a machine that has a particular function, but is often thought of as a novelty.2 Pens which people use in writing, USB that stores files, a wristwatch that tells time, a calculator, a thermometer, a laptop and many more are examples of this. Gadgets are everywhere. It is anything functional that makes one’s work easier. Electronic devices, on the other hand, are gadgets too. These are lightweight consumer devices that looks like a hand-held computer but instead performs specific tasks; can serve as a diary or a personal database or a telephone or an alarm clock etc.3 An electronic device displays information in a visual form. There are many types of electronic device such as televisions, a camera, cellphone, laptop and netbooks, a tablet, computer, etc. Using an electronic device as a tool for studying or gathering information is better because you can pick up and collect information from different reference through internet in just a minute. That is why sometimes it is also an effective way of learning. And also if a student is having difficulties on his/her reporting, assignments and other school activities, this type of device is really a big help. Electronic devices......

We believe that conducting financial, compliance, and operational audits will be beneficial to your company. A financial statement audit of your company will assist us to obtain and evaluate evidence about your company’s financial position, results of its operations, and cash flows for the purpose of expressing our opinion on whether they are presented fairly in conformity with established criteria—usually generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)(Arens, Elder & Beasley, 2006). A compliance audit will assist us to obtain and evaluate evidence to determine whether your company’s financial or operating activities conform to specified conditions, rules, or regulations. The established criteria in this type of audit may come from a variety of sources. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 requires companies to have a dual-purpose audit that audits both the financial statements and management’s assertion as to whether it has complied with criteria regarding an adequate system of internal control over financial reporting (Arens, Elder & Beasley, 2006). An operational audit will help us to obtain and evaluate evidence about the......
