Installing Copper Pipes
Problem: Install copper pipes for a new bathroom to run water to the toilette, sink and shower.
1. Prior to building the bathroom make sure that there is adequate accessibility to run copper pipes to the area where the bathroom will be located.
2. After bathroom is built and the configuration of toilette, sink and shower is complete make either a mental or written pattern of how you will connect the pipes. Remember you have hot and cold water. The sink and shower need both while the toilette needs only cold water.
3. Measure distances between toilette, shower and sink to have a general idea of how much copper pipe you will require. Always get about 10 feet extra just in case of a bad measurement or an adjustment in plan.
4. Drill 3 holes in wall near the toilette and sink to accommodate the shut-off valves: toilette gets 1 and sink gets 2.
5. Attach shut-off valves to 9 inch copper pipe segments and install so that valves are inside bathroom and other end is in the crawl space.
6. Attach copper pipe segments to shower on/off fixture so that the ends are in crawl space.
7. Measure copper pipe so that each segment connects with the corresponding hot or cold water shower on/off fixture or shut off valve. Make sure the ends of the pipe segments are clean with a shine. Use fine grained sand paper. Dry fit these segments only. (Dry fit means that no flux or solder has been used.)
8. Measure each segment at least twice! Remember the old adage: Measure twice, cut once!
9. As you cut each segment dry fit it with the required copper coupling or elbow or T fittings. Dry fit
10. Once each segment has been…...

...McPheeters Instructor’ Choice Assignment Fall2012-ECO2023-Princ Economics II-372686 November 3, 2012 Plumbing In my current position, I have the chance to dabble in many of your typical industrial trades such as electrical work, carpentry, welding and plumbing. As much as I enjoy this type of work, my job requirements create limitations to my knowledge and experience. I work in a maintenance capacity; therefore it is helpful to know a little bit about a lot, as opposed to being experienced in exclusively one trade. All of the aforementioned trades are suffering a shortage of qualified employees, so the opportunity exists to get into any of them and succeed, career wise as well as monetarily. It just amounts to how hard one is willing to work on what are generally considered unglamorous trades. For the purpose of this assignment I am going to focus on opportunities in the plumbing trade. Plumbers are tradesmen that are generally qualified for a wide range of responsibilities, and also need some experience in other trades such as carpentry and welding. Plumbers can handle jobs as simple as one man unplugging a toilet all the way to an entire company dedicating its workforce to constructing a skyscraper. They can handle everything from plastic pipe and glue to cast iron pipes and a welding rig. If they are working on a house, they would need some carpentry skills for plumbing installation. Plumbers have an advantage over some of the other construction related trades.......

Boswell Plumbing Products

...Boswell Plumbing Products Boswell Plumbing Products produces a variety of valves, connectors, and fixtures used in commercial and residential plumbing applications. Recently a senior manager walked into the cost accounting department and asked Nick Somner to tell her the cost of the D45 valve. Nick quickly replied, “why do you want to know?” Noticing that the manager appeared somewhat startled by this question, he explained, “The cost information you need depends on the decision you’re going to make. You might be thinking of increasing a scheduled production run of 3000 D45s by 100 units or scheduling an additional production run, or you might even be thinking of dropping the product. For each of these decisions, the cost information that you need is different.” Required Using the concept of incremental analysis, expand on Nick’s response of “Why do you want to know?” What cost information would be relevant to a decision to drop the product that would not be relevant to a decision to increase a production run by 100 units? According to the text, incremental analysis is the appropriate way to approach the solution to all business problems. It involves the calculation of the difference in revenue and the difference in cost between decision alternatives. The difference in revenue is the incremental revenue of one alternative over another, whereas the difference in cost is the incremental cost of one alternative over another. If an alternative yields an......

Elkay Plumbing

...Managerial Accounting [pic] Case Analysis: Elkay Plumbing Vaughn, Reginald 1. Please comment briefly on the benefits of Time Driven Activity Based Costing (TDABC) Time Driven Activity Based Costing (TDABC) is a popular alternative to Activity Based Costing. First, Activity-based costing (ABC) should be defined. ABC is a costing methodology that identifies activities in an organization and assigns the cost of each activity with resources to all products and services according to the actual consumption by each. CIMA, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants defines ABC as an approach to the costing and monitoring of activities which involves tracing resource consumption and costing final outputs. Resources are assigned to activities, and activities to cost objects based on consumption estimates. The latter utilizes cost drivers to attach activity costs to outputs. While ABC is considered a valuable tool for management, developing the model, calculating the bottom-lines, and testing the model once it is implemented is costly and arduous.  Managers are choosing TDABC because of the following benefits: • it can be easily updated to reflect changes in processes and resources costs • it captures the complexities of operations, it can be easily validated • it can be estimated and installed quickly • it identifies opportunities for process efficiencies • it is inexpensive to use ...

Installing Windows Server Networking

...Installing Windows Server Networking Eric A. Jordan Sr. POS421 19 May, 2014 William McKee Before I explain the server roles available to install Windows Server® 2008 R2, I would like to give a brief description of Windows Server 2008 R2. Windows Server 2008 R2 is an operating system, which has a business functionality more than a consumer atmosphere. Window Server 2008 R2 has such things as self-healing NFTS, which for the most part you will not see this function running on your computer. There is also server message block, hyper v, and core packing just to name a few features and functions. There are four different main editions of Windows Server 2008 R2, which are the Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition, Datacenter Edition, and Web Edition. Choosing the correct windows edition will require the administrator or organization to understand the workload needs and requirements to ensure they choose the right operating system. Below is a list of several server roles available in installing Windows Server 2008 R2. Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS) provides customizable services for creating and managing public key certificates used in software security systems employing public key technologies (Microsoft, 2014). Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) provide secure, structured, hierarchical data storage for objects in a network such as users, computers, printers, and services (Microsoft, 2014). Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) provides Web......

Summary of on the Meaning of Plumbing and Poverty

...Bryce Gray English 1103 Summary & Strong Response On The Meaning Of Plumbing and Poverty Summary In her essay “On The Meaning Of Plumbing and Poverty,” Journalist Melanie Scheller examines the cultural identity of the rural poor. The author brings the readers attention to her call to action about poverty in America while using facts and personal background. While caring for a woman in a psychiatric ward, Scheller witnesses the woman’s obsession for flushing the toilets in her unit. This memory creates an opportunity for her to write an essay about growing up in rural North Carolina. In the 1960’s the author was growing up with her mother and five other siblings, moving from place to place in search of a home where the rent was affordable. Scheller mentions how she lived in a house with five rooms, with one room in particular for her and her siblings to gather in to complete homework or watch television. Furthermore, Scheller describes how “in the South” of her childhood, if a family did not have indoor plumbing they were labeled as white trash and strongly stereotyped at school. They often had comments thrown at them such as “White-trash children had cooties- everybody knew that”(321). When Scheller is granted a college scholarship, she describes the feelings of happiness and delight she encounters when given the opportunity to use as many clean toilets and take as many hot showers as she wishes. Having this newfound privilege is a blessing but she is......

Installing and Using the Adb

...How To Install and Use ADB, the Android Debug Bridge Utility ADB, Android Debug Bridge, is a command-line utility included with Google’s Android SDK. ADB can control your device over USB from a computer, copy files back and forth, install and uninstall apps, run shell commands, and more. We’ve covered some other tricks that require ADB in the past, including backing up and restoring your smartphone or tablet[1] and installing Android apps to your SD card by default[2]. ADB is used for a variety of geeky Android tricks. Image Credit: LAI Ryanne on Flickr[3] Install Java JDK & Android SDK Before installing the Android SDK, you’ll have to install Oracle’s Java development kit. You can download it from here[4] – ensure you download the x86 (32-bit) version, even if your computer uses a 64-bit operating system. Even if you already have the Java runtime (JRE) installed, you’ll need to install the JDK as well. With the Java JDK installed, you can now download the Android SDK from Google[5] and install it on your computer. If you see a Java-related error during installation, ensure you downloaded and installed the x86 version of the JDK, not the x64 one. Android SDK Setup Once the Android SDK is downloaded and installed, launch the SDK Manager application from your Start menu. Enable the Android SDK Platform-tools checkbox and click the Install button. This downloads and installs the platform-tools package, which contains ADB and......

Elkay Plumbing Products Division

...Summary: Background: Elkay was the American largest manufacturer of stainless steel residential sinks which extended its scope into various kinds of products with only a few competitors. Its Plumbing Products Division produced different level and priced sinks in three plants separately based on different process requirements and characters of products and further invented itself to become the industry’s innovator. Elkay’s main market included North America and selected international markets. In 2007, Elkay’s main outlet market begun to collapse; prices of raw materials increased sharply; Chinese competitors began to encroach on its low-end and threaten its relationships with key customers together with its pricing pressure from retailers and fabricators. All these factors severely undermined Elkay’s profitability. Since Elkay kept using a traditional standard costing system and analyzed its customer P&Ls within it, managers didn’t take well actions toward the decline in profit for they knew information provided by this system were actually inaccurate and meaningless. Due to Hrudicka’s tireless efforts and successes from two pilot projects, PPD implemented the new Discrete Product Costing by adopting the time-driven ABC system eventually. However, in may 2008, after received report about SKU profitability provided by the new system, the vice president of sales contemplated about taking action towards unprofitable customers.
