For example, e-business includes both front – and back-office applications that form the engine for modern business. e-business is redefining old business models through the aid of technology, to maximize customer value. e-business is the use of the Internet and other networks and information technologies to support electronic commerce, enterprise communications and collaboration, and Web-enabled business processes both within an internetworked enterprise, and with its customers and business partners.

2. Why is there a trend toward cross-functional integrated enterprise systems in business?

Cross-functional information systems are integrated combinations of business information systems that share information resources across the functional units of an organization. Integrated systems allow the same data to be used for multiple applications; information output from one function can easily become data input to another function. Only one integrated database needs to be maintained. Many organizations are using information technology to develop integrated cross-functional enterprise systems that cross the boundaries of traditional business functions in order to reengineer and improve vital business processes all across the enterprise. These organizations view cross-functional enterprise systems as a strategic way to use IT to share information resources and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes, thus helping an e-business attain its strategic objectives.

...Information management (IM) and technology is playing a very important role in healthcare today. There are both positives and negatives when it comes to the advancement in technology and IM. Nursing is one of the last areas in the business world to take advantage of the advances in both IM and technology (Roussel, 2013). The need to search through patient records, having access to nursing measures at the bedside, quick educational sessions, and the ability to mine data for quality measures relating to reimbursements are all areas in which IM and technology plays an important role for nursing. The positive effects of IM and technology are numerous. Today’s nurses need quick access to information to assist them with caring for their patients. The use of informational technology systems by nurses minimizes the time spent in documenting, reduces redundancies, improves the communication, allows easy access to information, and provides information to the multidisciplinary team (Pacheco de Souza, Santiago, & Izu, 2015). Computers at the bedside provide nurses with an excellent tool to be able to use important information such as past medical history, drug allergies, lab values, and vital sign results. Not only does having fast access to this information save time, it also saves footsteps for the busy nursing staff. Nursing also utilizes IM and technology to adjust to new policies and procedures. At Jefferson Hospital, nurses are able to be competent with policy......

...Computer Information University of Phoenix CIS/319 Computers and Information Processing Computer Information Inputting data accurately into a computer can be done through different methods depending on the situation. The best method of data input for a printed questionnaire would be a keyboard for its accuracy therefore, avoiding ineligible handwriting and also questionnaires consist of basic characters, mostly letters and numbers. For phone surveys two methods can be employed, a voice recognition device or/and keypad which allows the surveyor to use a recording with this device allowing for less use of man labor, making it far more cost effective, accurate and faster. The voice recognition software stores the information directly into a computer hard disk. This approach assures accuracy by eliminating the potential for human recording errors. Translation errors may occur however, if the voice recognition software is not adjusted for the speech of the interviewees. When using this method of data input we should always keep in mind that some people only respond to live operators. As for bank checks the most accurate method is the MICR, Magnetic Ink Character Recognition, developed by the bank industry. “Data is placed on the bottom of a check or other form using a special magnetic ink. Data printed with this ink using a special character set can be read by both people and computers” (Stair, R. & Reynolds, W.G., 2006, p.37). For retail tags it would be the......
