...Chris never listens to me the way I feel he should for instance when hes gone to work in the Bay Area he calls me when he gets in the hotel he stays at and all he seems to care about is the stupid T.V. show or movie that him and the guys are watching. You’d think after a long hard day at work all a man truly wants is to hear his “loves” voice on the phone especially since hes not gonna be coming home to her in a few days… whats more comforting, his womans voice or the damned TV?!! But I already figured that one out and he sits and “trys” to conversate with me on the phone by repeatedly asking the same things over and over again so it sounds like hes making an attempt but hes so distracted by whats on the TV he doesn’t realize I see what he’s doing and how stupid its making him sound. He also doesn’t realize how upset hes making me by not taking interest in me at all.. I literally just said after he asked me what I’m doing tomorrow for the 3rd time, that the only thing that could be important enough for me to do tomorrow would be to kill myself and he DIDN’T EVEN PAY ATTENTION!!! His response was something to do with how cool the movie is in response to one of his coworkers questions.. So anyone can imagine how hurt that makes me feel, I can tell my boyfriend, the one I love, that I could kill myself tomorrow and he wouldn’t even listen. I don’t know what I’ve become and who I am anymore.. I thought that I changed for the better when I stopped my stupid little whorish......

As the war was ending volunteers became fewer and Britain were losing a lot of men so now they stated to make a law were solders form 18 to 40 had to join the war because at that time it was compulsory. Owens experiences of world war one were limited because at the beginning he was a coward however his experience of the war started to build up and becomes a real solders and starts fighting at the front and doing what’s right for his country. Owen sent a letter to his mom, saying ‘’I have not been at the front.-I have been in front of it’’ this tells us that he is doing he duty and show what he can do in heavy fighting. After his experiencing heavy fighting, he was diagnosed with shellshock. Owen wrote this poem (dulce de decorum est) to show the fear and conditions of the war. He wanted to show how bad and terrible it was and he’s showing the people who want to join not to because if they do then they are coming to hell, not a place is ‘’sweet and right.’’ Own became a poet because he got his Idea from a man called Siegfried Sassoon. Sassoon showed Owen how to change his nightmarish battlefield flashbacks into his poetry. The...

...to be included in the direct primary, a preliminary election giving all members of a party the chance to take part in a nomination and that was intended to limit the influence of political machines. The government in the early twentieth century passed the 17th amendment in 1913 which allowed state citizens to directly elect representatives to the U.S. Senate, instead of allowing party controlled state legislatures to do so, which was paving a new road for the industrial worker in America. Workers were not encouraged to vote, and if they decided to vote, the company forced them to vote for the politicians that would favor the company. Having the progressive party gain support throughout the nation, it helped the industrial worker take back his rights taken away from the government, workers resorted to a more organized approach by joining labor unions, which was a completely new concept to most people. Having starting to figure out how to beat the capitalists, workers started moved towards different tactics by creating labor unions and strikes. The first major efforts to organize workers groups on a nationwide basis was the Noble Order of the Knights of Labor in 1869, which was a society organized by Philadelphia garment workers, which was open to all workers. They didn't gain much success because they got taken over by the American Federation of Labor in 1886 which focused mainly towards skilled workers, and the main objective was to increase wages, reduce work hours and......

...September 2009. Our public school teacher sample is constructed by selecting employed wage and salary workers who are primary, secondary, or special education teachers (based on occupation codes), 3 An additional finding in the cross-sectional literature is that union effects for beginning teachers are close to zero, but substantial for senior teachers. Using data from the Schools and Staffing Survey (SASS), Winters (2011) finds little union effect for starting salaries, but a substantial effect for those with an MA and 20 years of experience. A principal focus of the Winters study is the role of spillover effects on salaries from unionization and pay (and other characteristics) in nearby school districts. These effects are included in his estimates. 4 employed at elementary or secondary schools (based on industry codes), and who are public sector workers (based on a class variable). We restrict the sample to full-time teachers, based on usual hours worked per week being at least 30. Following the additional exclusion of those with imputed earnings (see below), our estimation sample includes 30,008 teachers. The CPS union coverage measure. An ideal measure of teacher union membership and coverage would provide at the individual level information on whether a teacher is a union member and whether she is covered by a collective bargaining agreement in her teaching job. Measures from the CPS reflect something close to this, but with error due both to......

Fuck

...This came to a head back in 2007. I was speaking at the Business Innovation Factory conference in Providence, RI. So was Richard Saul Wurman. After my talk Richard came up to introduce himself and compliment my talk. That was very generous of him. He certainly didn’t have to do that. And what did I do? I pushed back at him about the talk he gave. While he was making his points on stage, I was taking an inventory of the things I didn’t agree with. And when presented with an opportunity to speak with him, I quickly pushed back at some of his ideas. I must have seemed like such an asshole. His response changed my life. It was a simple thing. He said “Man, give it five minutes.” I asked him what he meant by that? He said, it’s fine to disagree, it’s fine to push back, it’s great to have strong opinions and beliefs, but give my ideas some time to set in before you’re sure you want to argue against them. “Five minutes” represented “think”, not react. He was totally right. I came into the discussion looking to prove something, not learn something. This was a big moment for me. Richard has spent his career thinking about these problems. He’s given it 30 years. And I gave it just a few minutes. Now, certainly he can be wrong and I could be right, but it’s better to think deeply about something first before being so certain you’re right. There’s also a difference between asking questions and pushing back. Pushing back means you already think you know.......

Ya Dystopian

...YA Dystopian Steffan Larsen’s chief points from the article “Why does dad not want to read ‘The Hunger Games’” Young Adult Dystopian fiction has grown as a genre and continues to evolve. But not every generation follows the new genre. Steffen Larsen is giving his thoughts on, why YA Dystopian has not reached his generation, where as books such as Harry Potter have appealed to several generations, including his own. YA Dystopian is one of the biggest and most popular genres today, which is accomplished by hitting the right target group (the teenagers). Steffen Larsen argues why YA Dystopia has not reached his generation as follows: “But most of all- I think- the books tells about manipulation, newspeak and the limits of reality shows”. Here Steffen Larsen reveals his negative view on ‘The Hunger Games’ but also the genre YA Dystopia by using words as manipulation and limits of reality. Particularly the concept of a “reality show” does not have a good renown, especially not in the older generation, where Steffen Larsen belongs. Steffen Larsen’s criticism of ‘The hunger games’ and the genre, could be reasoned with “times have changed” as he also points out: “In the reddish seventies where you overturn capitalist’s and than every thing went good. That is not how it is anymore”. Furthermore, Steffen ironically praises Suzanne Collins for being the only one who tries to dissimulate a new utopia – a dissimulation from which...

...memories of his youth, travels and early relationships. it is infused with lyrical descriptions of the sun-drenched Algiers of his childhood - the place where, eventually, Mersault is able to find peace and die 'without anger, without hatred, without regret'. The last thing in the world Albert Camus wanted was to win the Nobel Prize (1957) for Literature. "I'm castrated," the mortified Algerian-born French writer complained upon hearing that he'd won the greatest honor any writer could ever hope for. At that moment in his life, Camus was depressed, ill, and suffering from an enormous writer's block. Now he would be subject to the torture of public exposure, spectacle, and solemnities. Left-leaning Frenchmen led by Jean Paul Sartre had been publicly deriding Camus for being too conservative and for behaving as the high priest of Absolute Morality -- albeit one who carried his own portable pedestal. For conservative Frenchmen, Camus was no conservative at all but a militant radical at a time when the Arabs in Algeria were preparing for revolt. In the press Camus was treated more as a political than a literary figure and was often vilified as a mere writer of illusions. One critic dismissed his work as negative and jeered at the concept of the modern alienated outsider as nothing more than "the hero as vegetable." To his own regret, Camus could ill afford to turn down a Nobel Prize financially or morally, as Sartre later did. Trapped by fame, misunderstood even by his own......
