Quality of Working Life (QoWL) is a measure of how good your work is for you. Quality of Working Life is more than just job satisfaction or work happiness, but the widest context in which an employee would evaluate their job. The QoWL Survey and Data Set The QoWL survey tool encompasses three important questionnaires: 1. The QoWL Core Scale, which looks at the six core factors associated with Quality of Working Life, such as job satisfaction, work-life balance, and working conditions. 2. The QoWL Workplace Outcome Scale, which provides data related to a variety of specific outcomes related to Quality of Working Life such as intention to stay, perceived productivity, and pride in the organisation. 3. The HSE Work-Related Stress Scale, which provides feedback on the stressor categories included in HSE’s Management Standards, such as demands, management support, and relationships. ...Employee’s Perception of Quality of Work Life: The concept of the ‘Quality of Working Life’ is imprecise and thus problematic to operationalize. Historically, it can be traced back to the quality of working life movement that largely consisted of a number of industrial psychologists in response to a perceived disenchantment with the organization of work in the late1960s and early 1970s (Walton, 1973; Stjernberg, 1977; Littler and Salaman, 1984). ...Project Part 2 Work/life balance is an ongoing conflict between employers and employees, and one that does not have clearly defined lines. In order for both the employer and the employee to achieve an appropriate work/life balance, there has to be both give and take. It is just as much the employer’s responsibility as it is the employee’s responsibility. In order for there to be a solution that satisfies all parties, there must be open and effective communication on both sides. Both sides must also have a clear goal of what they want from one another. Especially in an employer situation, you must understand that it is not you against the employer, but rather to view you and the employer as a whole team. Viewing yourself as one team working for the same goal allows you to better collaborate on a solution that works for all involved. Potential solutions to the issue of work/life balance include flexible hours, paid leave, child care, employee assistance programs, providing employees with time management tools, and incorporating employees’ families into company events. These are geared at allowing employees to not only have time outside of company walls, but to also maximize their effectiveness on the job. This study has identified six dimensions of work life balance: organizational commitment, employee wellbeing, work family conflict, decision authority, care for family demands and job stress. The views of 131 public sector employees working at different tiers were collected to identify the impact of work life balance on employee’s performance in public sector organizations of Pakistan. Non-probability convenience sampling technique was used for drawing samples from population. Descriptive statistics, correlation and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. This study indicates that a statistically significant positive relationship exist between each of identified dimension of work life balance as each of the dimension if catered for, help in enhancing the performance of the employees in PSOs. Importance of employee’s wellbeing and care for family demands as key dimension of work life balance is also emphasized by this study.
