The famous Altstadt is a wondrous square kilometre that has more to offer than any other district in Düsseldorf.

This is where the waiters ("Köbesse") are diamonds in the rough, where the next beer comes without it being ordered and where pork knuckles are a staple of people's diet as well as where tales are told and tranquillity goes hand in hand with the city's hustle and bustle. More than 260 pubs line the "longest bar in the world": local breweries, lounges, cocktail bars, electro-clubs and sophisticated ambiences – this is the place to find the venue to suit your personal taste.

But it's not only body and soul that will feel great in Düsseldorf's Altstadt: the district will also provide intellectual stimulation because this is where most of the state capital's art and cultural venues are to be found. The major Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, the innovative NRW-Forum, the venerable Museum Kunstpalast and the Filmmuseum, which has even been praised by Hollywood greats, are just a few of the many museums that leave an impression on visitors. Düsseldorf also has many important performance venues: the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (Opera House), the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus (Theatre) and the Tonhalle (Concert Hall) all bear witness to Düsseldorf's reputation as an international centre for the arts and culture.

Düsseldorf's centre is also home to some of the city's most beautiful churches. For instance, the Sankt Lambertus Basilika, which was first built in the 13th century, and which with its twisting spire helps make Düsseldorf's skyline unique. In conjunction with the Schlossturm (Castle Tower) and the River Düssel, the basilica remains part of the Old Town's original core. This church's parish altar also houses a shrine containing relics of Saint Apollinaris, the city's patron saint. The Bergerkirche, which dates from the 17th century, the Johanneskirche…...

It Is Often Not a Good Thing to Move to a New Town or Country Because They Lose Old Friends

...It is often not a good thing to move to a new town or country because they lose old friends. Just as flowers need nutrition, so do people need friends. Some people seem to prefer to stay in the same place for their whole life since they feel safer and happier with their old friends; while others are more prone to move to a new town or country to make a change. However, I disagree with the statement and think people will still keep their old friends even they move to other places, for high technology, friendship recognition. First of all, there are no inventions have received more praise than internet and cell phones, which are well-developed for people to communicate with their friends by the communicating materials. Skype, which is a tool used to keep in touch with others, is often cited as an example. In my case, it is Skype that I often talk to my friends in different countries. Cell phones are, also, the most common and convenient implements to contact with each other. Take Judy, my sister, for example. After graduating from the senior high school, she goes to another city for attending college, she still chats with her best friend by texting messages and phone calling. Second, I believe that real friendship is a long-term, deeply bound with each other. That is, companionship can last for a long time; it will not end up easily for the distance. Besides, as an old saying goes, “aAbsence makes the heart grow fonder.”Excellent!! Sometimes, folks apart from their......

The purpose of building a new facility is to increase its manufacturing operations capacity five-fold, and centralize its manufacturing operations to increase efficiency. It will cost RM37 million. The company will use cash from the initial public offering, bank borrowings and internally generated funds to finance the project. The factory is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2012. The company plans to expand its number of cafés in Malaysia. It also plans to expand its outlets in Singapore (2012: nine outlets) and Indonesia (2012: two outlets). The company has reached the tipping point in terms of expansion, and looked to the initial public offering to gather more funds for its future plans. The company achieved double-digit growth in terms of revenue between 2007 and 2012, but has been slowing down as the size of the company and its operations increase. Usage of its own coffee brand in the Old Town outlets from its commencement was a good strategic move by the company. It is expected to grow steadily for the next few years, by increasing the number of outlets locally and abroad, and increasing the coverage of the country to export its instant products. Cost Focus Comparative to traditional coffee shops, Old Town White......

Home Town

...The average person, at least in the United States, will most likely either grow up in their home town or move two or three times before graduating high school. Well, I am not the average person, while I did spend a majority of my childhood in my home town of Brownsville, Texas, my family and I began moving a lot after I was about eight years old. Brownsville is a city that is right next to the United States and Mexico border, thus, the city had a lot of Mexican culture. Brownsville is also right next to the Gulf of Mexico, meaning that it was hot and humid most of the time. Thus, my sister and I would mostly only play outside whenever it wasn’t too hot or raining too much. Brownsville is the kind of city where everybody you ask will have a different opinion or point of view on it. However, my point of view was from a young kid who saw his mom struggle to support her two children by herself. This helped me see the part of Brownsville that was for those people who were just trying to make the most of what they had. I remember being amazed whenever we would go to the local flea market, being a young kid it was amazing seeing how many things and people there were in one place and how you could find just about anything there. Something that made Brownsville even better was that it took less than fifteen minutes to cross the border into Mexico. This was great because my grandparents and some of my more distant family lived in Mexico. Not only that, but I used to like going to......

Architecture in Town

...U07A1-Architecture in Town Capella University Chrissy Zufall August 25th, 2012 The first building that I decided to examine is the office building where I used to work. I was there for 40 or more hours weekly and, even though I came to the same place day in and day out it started to become very tedious, I have to say that I still appreciated the aesthetics and architecture around me. There is a hot tub business and an insurance company accident appraiser that is beside our office. Our building is very long, short building that is supported by cement legs and it has one parking lot going to the left and right sides of the building. In the back, sides and the front, of this massive building is nothing but all glasss that is made of up of approximately 2,000 windows! During the daytime hours, the glass around the building becomes like a shield that darkens up and it prohibits anyone from peering insidcetus building, but in the evening period, it lights up as bright as the city lights of New York. Our corporate colors are grey, black and white and the entire building is comprised of grey and white signs and a black trim that can't easily be seen from the outside. The elevators that lead up to the second floor are a ‘type A’ personality’s dream, meaning it is perfectly symmetrical and cleverly crafted in the shape of a “Z” that could be seen from the sidewalk below and the street beyond. The elevators run...
