This goes for both verbal and non-verbal communication. One may learn how to speak Thai, travel to Thailand, and still find difficulty in communicating due to nonverbal gestures that may mean one thing in our society but doesn’t mean the same thing in a different culture. 2. Define communication- The imparting or interchange of thoughts, opinions, or information by speech, writing, or signs. (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/communication?s=t) 3. Name and explain the seven primary components of communication- a. Message Creation- The process of taking an idea and converting it into a message. b. Meaning Creation- The goal of exchanging symbols to create meaning. c. Setting- The physical surroundings of a communication event. d. Participants- Two or more people who interact. e. Channels- The means through which a message is conveyed. f. Noise- Any stimulus that can interfere with, or degrade, the quality of a message. g. Feedback- The response to a message. 4. Explain the Synergetic Model of Communication- The Synergetic Model presents communication as a transactional process in which meaning is influenced by cultural, societal, and individual forces. 5. Understand the ethical responsibilities of speakers and listeners- Speakers and listeners should make and maintain eye contact while engaging in conversation. Speakers must convey their message in a way such that the listener can understand. What number does a bit that is turned off represent? When a bit is turned on, it represents a "1". When it is turned off, it represents a "0". 3. What would you call a device that works with binary data? Digital Data is data that is stored in binary, and a Digital Device is any device that works with binary data 4. What are the short words that are used in assembly language called? Mnemonic 6. What is the difference between a complier and an interpreter? A compiler translates code from a source language (e.g. C, C++, and Java) to a target language, which can then be executed by a (virtual or physical) machine. An interpreter reads code in an interpreted language (e.g. PHP, Perl, and Java Script) and directly executes the contained instructions. 7. ... The typical hardware associated with a computer includes but are not limited to input devices such as mice, keyboards and webcams. Output devices like monitors, speakers and printers and your different types of memory (CPU, RAM, SSDs.) The computer’s data storage process consists of tiny electrical power charges in microscopic capacitors. When a computer is turned off the capacitors that your data is stored on lose their charge which is why computer memory goes blank when it is off. For data that is stored for longer periods of time, it is stored as a magnetic pattern on a spinning disk. A program is a set of instructions that a computer follows in order to perform a task. A program is run by the computer’s CPU or Central Processing Unit. Each instruction in a program tells the CPU to perform a specific operation. Machine Language: Language that CPU understands. It is always written in binary. Assembly Language: Language that consists of short words known as mnemonics. It was created because it was impractical for people to write programs in machine language. High-Level Language: Allows people to create powerful and complex programs without knowing how the CPU works, and without writing large numbers of low-level instructions. Compiler: Program that translates a high-level language into a separate machine language program. Interpreter: Program that both translates and executes the instructions in a high-level program. As described earlier in this paper, I......

What is the language used to interact with most modern relational database? SQL 3. List the three (3) properties of a primary key. Unique Not Null Can not be changed 4. Why is it required that every table in a modern relational database has a primary key defined? The primary key in a given table is the only unique identifier for a row or record 5. Explain what “data integrity” means in the context of a modern relational database. Data integrity means the data is consistent and factual, the data can be “trusted” 6. Explain why data redundancy is generally a “bad” thing in a modern relational database. Storing the same exact information in multiple places leads to problems on update and delete and drastically increases the chance of data becoming inconsistent. 7. What is a “foreign key” in the context of a modern relational database. What is the role of a foreign key? A foreign key is a primary key that has been imported from another table. The foreign key reinforces the “relationship” between two tables. 8. What is the relationship between a foreign key and a primary key?
