CMA Certification
CMA stands for Certified Management Accountant and it is the “advanced professional certification specifically designed to measure the accounting and financial management skills that drive business performance” (How To Become a CMA, n.d.). The Institute of Management Accountants governs the CMA exam and there are quite a few requirements one must meet in order to even be eligible to sit for the exam. First of all, you must be a member of the Institute of Management Accountants to be eligible for the CMA program. The other eligibility criteria includes paying the entrance fee, satisfying the education qualification, satisfying the experience qualification, receiving passing scores for all required examination parts, and compliance with the IMA Statement of Ethical Professional Practice. The entrance fee for Professional members is $225 and the entrance fee for students and academic members (members U.S., Canada, or Mexico) is $75. The education qualification includes having a bachelor’s degree, in any area, from an accredited college or university. Applicants may also have degrees that are not from accredited institutions but they must be evaluated by an independent agency. To be eligible for the experience qualification, applicants must have at least 2 years of continuous professional experience in management accounting and/or financial management. This experience is expected to be gained in full-time employment but continuous part-time positions of 20 hours per week, which meet the definition of qualified experience, will count toward the requirement at a rate of one year of experience for every two years of part time employment (How To Become a CMA, n.d.).
The exam consists of two different parts. Part 1 is Financial Planning, Performance and Control. You have 4 hours to…...

...The Institute of Management Accountants’ has created a certification that not only showcases to businesses an individual’s ability, but provides a benchmark for professionalism and ethical behavior. In 1972, the first CMA exam and accreditation was administered to accounting professionals (CMA Handbook, 2012). Forty years later, the program has developed into an internationally recognized program. Individuals who wish to distinguish themselves from thousands of other accountants have the opportunity for a board of regents to review their credentials and pass a two-part examination, which will provide certification. The areas of expertise include: financial planning, analysis, control, and decision support (CMA Handbook, 2012). This paper will cover the basic requirements of following the CMA designation and benefits it will bring. The first step that must be taken by a candidate is becoming a member of the Institute of Management Accountants. Becoming a member requires paying dues and upholding the ethical/professional stance of the organization. To fulfill the educational requirements of a CMA, an individual must receive a bachelor’s degree, in any major, from an accredited university or college. A complete listing of pre-approved schools is found at (CMA Handbook, 2012). Just because a school is not on the list, does not mean a person cannot meet this particular criterion. He or she will need to submit the school and a notarized official transcript...

...700 for CompTIA A+ Practical Application on a scale of 100-900 Exam Overiew: • CompTIA_A_220-701: pdf • CompTIA_A_220-702: pdf CompTIA A+ Test Taking Tips It is possible to study and learn about a topic and still not find success on a certification exam. Studying develops specific skill and knowledge, but it is the presentation of your skill and knowledge that satisfies the exam. This difference is vital to successful exam study. Multiple choice: What’s right and what’s wrong? Knowing what is wrong (and why it is wrong) as well as what is right, demonstrates mastery, and can lead you safely through the minefield of exam distracters (incorrect answer choices). Ineffective study may leave you knowing only a narrow vision of what is right in a particular circumstance. Multiple choice certification exams emulate the real world by including subtle knowledge, descriptions, and information. On the job, a customer: • May not provide information in a standard way every time • May present you with information that is irrelevant to the job • May end up confusing several different issues, but mistakenly present just one issue Memorizing obvious factual knowledge may not deliver enough. Certification exams probe for mastery-level ability - beyond knowledge of a simple fact. You must be able to actively apply your knowledge in skills such as troubleshooting, installing or configuring. Follow a balanced study “diet” Look at an exam topic from......
