Advertisement and Children In today's world, advertising is becoming more widespread. The major point is to increase market and educate consumers about the new products .There are many ways of advertising which are television, radio, local newspapers, magazines and etc.. Advertisers have realized that children would become the most influenced group by advertising, and also started producing childrenswear and foods besides toys and games. There is an increasing amount of advertising directed at children which encourages them to buy goods such as toys and snacks. Many parents are worried that these advertisements put too much pressure on children. Advertisements are everywhere nowadays and especially advertising targeting children. Some advertisers claim that they provide beneficial information to children. I am going to discuss ads on toys, fast food and educative programs. Another advertisement is on toy industry, because children under a certain age don’t understand what they want. They are attracted by colorful pictures on advertisement and influence by misleading information. So they annoy their parents to buy those things and this can upset the budget of many families. “According to the Consumer Union's report, “elementary-age” school children spend around $ 15 billion, $11 billion of which goes for products from toys and games to food and clothes also elementary-age children influence $160 billion spending controlled by their parents- for cereals, shampoos, and even cars”. (Wikipedia) The advertisements of fast foods are bad for children. They are attracted to fast foods and these are very detrimental for their health. Nowadays a lot of children are suffering with obesity; this comes from eating fast food a lot. ...All children are affected by the violence in their homes. Regardless of whether or not our children have been physically abused, watching their mother being battered is a frightening experience. Children from violent homes can exhibit a variety of behaviors. Some may "act out" and may be viewed as delinquent. Domestic violence is an ongoing experience of physical, psychologic, and/or sexual abuse in the home that is used to establish power and control over another person.1 Although awareness about the rate of domestic violence in our society is increasing, the public health ramifications have only recently been recognized in the medical community. The majority of the medical literature to date has focused on the effect of domestic violence on the primary victim. What effect does witnessing domestic violence have on secondary victims, such as children who live in homes where partner abuse occurs? It is estimated that 3.2 million American children witness incidents of domestic violence annually.2 Witnessing domestic violence can lead children to develop an array of age-dependent negative effects. Research in this area has focused on the cognitive, behavioral, and emotional effects of domestic violence. They are born to many young mothers who have little experience in raising a child. Many of the children today go through problems in transition, have babies early, and drop out of school. In the Bible you hear, “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Children today have problems transitioning from something familiar to the unknown. They all start off in daycare or preschool learning the basics of school life. They learn to interact with other children, how to count and say the ABC’s. In early education, children learn to bond with their teachers. Half of a day they are there with someone who cares for them as their parents. Once the time comes for the child to move on, it takes time for the child to transition from one place to another. Take my children for example; all of my children have attended the same preschool. When the time came for them to enter school, I had to have the director from the daycare go to the school with us to assure the children that they would be fine. Children take time to adapt to new environments and to build a relationship with teachers and peers. ...Through many generations, there’s always a group that is shunned upon and misunderstood, the children. I’m sure you’ve heard your parents say things about this generation being worse than the past and your grandparents saying your generation is even WORSE than your parent’s. Within the first term they are able to recognise, understand and repeat what they have learnt.
